Rites of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.)

Our Parish provides the Rite of Catholic Initiation of Adults (RCIA).

It is a process where individuals become Catholic, whether they have no religion, would like to convert from another religion or complete the sacramental process (for those baptized yet never received training or other sacraments).

If you are interested in learning more, please call Deacon George or Fr. Chris at the rectory (413) 684-0125. Questions and answers in an informal setting. All ages are welcome!

Are you interested in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.)?

"I have called You by Name, You are Mine"... an invitation to join the journey.

Are you interested in joining the Catholic Church, or simply increasing your understanding of our Faith?

Many people feel a call from God in their lives to join the Church.  Others feel a call to complete their journey, perhaps to receive First Communion or Confirmation.  Often, folks have not seen the opportunity to respond to the call either because they didn't know how to look into the matter or because no one has extended the invitation to them.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a journey of prayer, reflection, and learning that allows for the continuing discernment of God's will in our lives.  The RCIA process also involves learning about the Catholic Church, applying it to our lives and can lead to making the commitment to join the Church.

Is the RCIA for you?  It is if ...

-  You are coming from another tradition or you have not had any faith tradition and you want to know more about the Catholic Church.

-  You want to be received into the Catholic Church

-   You were baptized Catholic, but have been distant from the faith and have not been Confirmed.

-  You are married to a Catholic and attend Mass but just don't know what the next step is to become one of the Catholic faithful.

-  You are a confirmed Catholic who is willing to deepen your faith through sponsoring a person who is inquiring and are open to walking in a journey of faith with them.

At St. Agnes and St. Patrick's, the entire parish is involved in the effort to bring faith-seeking persons into the midst of our Catholic faith community.  The parish community prays and strives to witness to the constant faith development in those who are on the journey to become Catholic.  In this way the person entering the Catholic Church really experiences "Church" - the people of God, the St. Agnes and St. Patrick's Catholic Community.

Inquirers meet weekly with a team of people who share their own experience of Christ in their lives, explore our scripture and tradition, and accompany inquirers on their journey of faith.  They are also invited to attend Mass on Sundays so that the powerful word of God may become a part of their experience.

The RCIA is open to everyone, Christian or non-Christian, who genuinely seeks to explore the possibility of joining the Catholic Christian faith community.  No matter where you are on your journey of faith, there is a place for you in our St. Agnes and Saint Patrick's Catholic Community RCIA.

RCIA is the Church's way of ministering to those who seek church membership.  Some people will need more time than others to prepare for the lifetime commitment that comes with initiation into the Church.

Your questions about God, faith, and what religious path you are called to follow, are very important to us.  We respect where you are and your history and would like to share what we believe and why we find the Catholic community a channel of God's grace.  We invite you to explore with us a journey of faith called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
